Can stress trigger a tooth abscess?!

Question: I don't think that 'stress' can cause a tooth abscess, but I do think that it can be a part in the development and severity of an abscess.
Scientists have shown many times that common bacteria, such as staphylococci, are the most common cause of abscesses, however, stress can play a part in this too. Let me explain...
We all know from countless research that people who are stressed out have weaker immune systems and are more likely to catch colds, flus and other nasty bugs.
According to this site I read (see below), people with weakened immune systems (which can be caused by stress) may be more prone to abscesses or may have more severe ones.

Interesting question! I hope my answer helped you, good luck ;-)

No but I thik when you are stressed you focus more on it

With me in the passed, yes, plenty.

No not on it's own. I suppose with the slight drop in immune function coming from stress one can develop sooner but once the pulp becomes infected the abscess is more or less inevitable.

No, if your tooth is abscessed it has to do with dental care, and needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.

an abscess is an infection...and if you are stressed your bodies resistance to infection is lowered...so I say YES

No...infection is what triggers a tooth abscess. Stress can be attributed to alot of health problems but it does not cause infections

No, but pain is intensified by stress, so suggest you get tooth checked out.

No I don't think so. I do think an unhealthy mouth causes an abscess.

Mouth washing daily with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE will keep your gums and mouth healthy.

No, bacteria is the cause of an abcess.

But, like some of the others have said, stress lowers your immune response, causing the abscess to get worse.
