Is peroxide safe for mouthwash use?!

Question:

Is peroxide safe for mouthwash use?

is it? i use just a lil bit and swish it, it actually does work, but is it safe

Answers:

It is safe to use for a short period of time. Don't use it every day for the rest of your life or even several months. The peroxide can change the natural flora (good and bad bacteria) that exist harmoniously in your mouth. If too many good bacteria are destroyed, the bad bacteria can take over and cause weird reactions to occur. One specific one they told us about, but I've yet to see is called "Black Hairy Tongue". This is an overgrowth of the papilla on the tongue. Use the peroxide only when you have a flair up in the gum tissue.
