This will sound weird, but rinse with peroxide.
Not the full strength bleach version for hair but the weaker version.Rinse good and brush at the same time then spit and rinse with water afterwards.
Do not swallow.

You can also get chlorhexadine 0.12% from your dentist.
It is a twice a day rinse too. It tastes worse.

If you use the peroxide you should try to make sure it is the weaker solution (3%) which you should be able to find in the first aid section of the drug store.
They sell it for cleaning wounds, so it is not going to destroy your mouth or anything like that.
If you can only find the strong stuff (6%) it is still ok, just mix it with the same amount of water to gut its strength in half.

Some people also rinse and gargle with strong salty water.

I had this when I got pregnant and after I stopped taking birth control pills. The first time I had it for only about a week; the second time was about 2 weeks. It was horrendous!!

I went to the dentist both times. The 2nd time, I went twice and he told me to gargle with peroxide; continue brushing and flossing. All of this seemed to make it worse and kept it irritated. He even gave me an oral antibiotic (like you'd take for strep throat).

Finally, I went to urgent care--basically to beg for some pain med. The doctor told me that he would prescribe Peridex--a prescription mouthwash. It cost, like $10 and was a huge bottle. I used it 2 times a day and my mouth was considerably better the next day and completely cured in 4 days. While using the mouthwash, he told me to not brush the gums only the teeth, no dental floss. He also said no red meat because red meat breaks down (rots) quickly and causes a buildup of bacteria in the mouth if not cleansed quickly--which makes the gingivitis thrive. The doctor said that very few dentists will recommend the $10 mouthwash--his theory is because they can't do the more costly deep tissue cleaning that they charge thousands of dollars for. Whatever, the mouthwash works!

If the dentist won't prescribe, go to your family doctor.
