The Braces Question....Questions?!

Question: My friend keeps telling me to get braces,so does part of my family.I said I didn't want them but my friends say I need them sooner or later or else no one will go out with me,not that I care but I'll be sad for the rest of my life.
All my teeth are actually straight,I really think that, besides my 2 front that are just crooked.
How much are the braces gonna hurt?
I'm going to talk to my parents about it but I just wanna know some things first.
1)Mainly how much does it cost
2)When are people usually able to take off their braces
3)How much does it hurt?
4)Are they going to pull out my teeth?
5)Am I gonna hate it?

If you could answer a few,thanks.Anyways......I'm a preteen and my uncle is telling me the younger I am the better and that was last year.I've made my decision now.o.0

1) No clue how much it costs, my mother was the one who took care of the bills.
2) Some people only need braces for six months. I had mine for three years.
3) It never really hurts, but your mouth will be sore a day or two after every appointment.
4) They will sometimes pull teeth if there is a tooth that is in the way, or your mouth is just way too small. I personally didn't have teeth pulled.
5) The whole time I had braces, I HATED it. But now that they're off, I'm totally happy with my teeth.

1)Mainly how much does it cost - Mine cost around $4,000
2)When are people usually able to take off their braces - It depends. probably around 2 years, but for you, maybe a year.
3)How much does it hurt?- It hurts a little bit a first, but you'll get use to it
4)Are they going to pull out my teeth? - 2 of mine had to be pulled out. But that's only 'cause mine were really crowded.
5)Am I gonna hate it?-- Maybe, because you can't drink a lot of pop, you cant eat hard thinks like pretzels, you cant eat caramel, you can only chew sugar free gum. Stuff like that.

1. um anywhere from like 2000-7000

2. the average time is about 2-4 years

3. it HURTS but only for about a week. but when you first get them on, it's gonna hurt the most and long. mine didn't hurt till 2 weeks later

4. only if you need to, i had to cuz my teeth were too crowded

5. i hate them but it will pay off for a better smile

1. The cost will depend on a couple of things... how long you have them on, and what orthodontist you go to. Probably 1000 dollars or so... totally depends though
2. it varies from person to person... I would say anywhere from 9 monthes, to 15. No more for just that. A othodontist could tell you bettter than anywhere on here.
3. It only hurts for a couple of days, 3 tops... and then a couple hours after you have gotten them adjusted.
4. Of course they will not pull out your teeth.
5. I love mine, some people dont. But remember, its only asw bad as you make it.

If you do get them WHERE YOUR BANDS
I did, and I am geting mine 6 monthes early because I wear my bands.

1) a lot. in the hundreds. your health insurance should cover it, but if your parents are asking for it, get them to pay for it.
2) after a few months or years. I don't think longer than five years.
3)some. about as much as when they poke you with that sharp metal hook at the dentist. sometimes wires can poke the inside of your mouth, and braces feel weird. but they don't hurt a lot, for the most part.
4) no way.
5) it depends. do you chew a lot of gum? do you floss your teeth regularly? then maybe you won't like it.

try invisalign. it's like braces but it's just a clear cap they put on your teeth. I would ask your dentist which costs more.

1) Depends. http://www.archwired.com/HowMuchDoBraces...

2) Most people have them on for about 2 years.

3) They didn't hurt me at all!

4) Not usually.

5) You shouldn't hate braces, I'm sure when you're older you'll be glad you got them. Did you know about 70% of people in the US need orthodontic treatment?
Even celebrities have had them. http://www.bracesinfo.com/famous.html

1) A TON. We're talking thousands.
2)It depends on the teeth! Mine were REALLY bad, so it took 2 and a half years, and i started in middle school. Also, the younger you are, the more easily your teeth can be moved.
3.)It doesn't, except when they're tightened. And not much, because braces have gotten more advanced in the last couple years, it really isn't too bad.
4.)Of course not!
5.)Yes.

Frankly, i dont see why you should have them unless you have a bad bite like i did--my bite was so off that my teeth would have gotten cracks from pressure on the wrong areas when i was older had i not gotten braces to correct them. If you don't like your teeth, i don't see why not.
Guys will like whether you get them or not.

Braces do not hurt except for maybe after they've made an adjustment. Even then, it's usually only for a day or two and if you pop a couple of ibuprofen, you won't even be bothered by it. They don't usually have to pull any teeth to put braces on unless your teeth are really messed up badly. As for how long you'd need to wear them, that's up to your ortho. I just got finished with braces, which I wore only to close up some spaces, and I was in them for a year. You may not even need braces if your teeth are straight. A consultation with an ortho would tell you all you need to know. As for the cost, I think mine cost around $4000, but I got ceramic braces so no one could tell I was wearing braces and our dental insurance paid for most of it. When I had my braces, I could eat anything I wanted. I even chewed gum, although very carefully. One thing is for sure ... if you need braces, you're better off getting them when you're young. If you wait until you're an adult to get them, you'll have to wear them longer. And another thing ... they are TOTALLY worth the money and discomfort. When you see how gorgeous your smile is when you get them off, you won't believe it!

1) mine cost $3000, but that was for everything they did with my teeth including: first the expander to widen the roof of my mouth, then herbst appliance to fix my overbite, then braces and finally retainers.
2)i had my braces for 3 years to fix my gap between my front teeth and crooked bottom teeth
3)it hurts when you go to tighten your braces and they rewire them...i wont lie it made me cry because my teeth hurt...but after about 3 days your teeth wont hurt anymore
4)they will not pull out ur teeth lol
5)you probably will not like having braces but the end result is totally worth it...i promise!!! i hated my teeth and begged my parents to get them fixed.

I would just go to a dentist. what do your friends know?? are they trained dentist's?? and its not the younger you are at all, its when your mouth is ready, which a dentist will know. usualy around 14 - when your body is growing and maturing.
anyways, it cost a few thousand dollars, most people have braces for a year or two (depending on your teeth), it hurts lots, more then likely they will need to pull some teeth out but that doesnt hurt as much as the braces and yes, you will hate it! of cause you will. no one who has braces loves them. of all of the people you know, who loves their braces? ask them.

i will tell you all about them but go to the kidshealth, org and type in braces and they w1ill tell every part of the steps you will expirence with braces ! so they cost alot of money and they will not hurt when he puts them on you but a few hours later there going to kill you and be soure about 3 days they feel like knives going threw you yeah it does kill yah. but there usally fine and dont hurt at all after those 3 days and they do nothing with pulling out your teeth trust me and if they did noone would get them lol....... wait if you still have babby teeth like 1 or 2 he might pull those teeth out but it will not hurt and everyone who gets braces in my class is popular lol and you will not hate them becouse they give perfect teeth just like models have

1.) Canadain, it costed us about $4700
2.)I know some people who have had there braces on for only a year and others 2 years but usually a year and a half
3.)It hurts really bad at first cuz your teeth have to adjust, but after a year I felt nothing
4.)Usually, they dont pull out peoples teeth they told me it was a 99% chance they would but they ended up not having to.
5.)No, u wont hate it after you get them off it is one of the greatest moments of your life you cant wait for it after all the stuff you go throught not to scare you lol
ya I would reccomend braces but make sure you wear your retainer at night otherwise your teeth will go crooked again!!
