Cold beverages are making an area of my teeth really sensitive, could it be anyt!
Question:
Cold beverages are making an area of my teeth really sensitive, could it be anything other then like a cavity?
Answers:
Yeah, it could be lots of things...
First, have you been bleaching your teeth at all? If yes, bleach tends to make your teeth very sensitive, especially to cold.
Second, are you an aggressive brusher? If yes, you could have areas where your gums have receded from your teeth exposing the underlying dentin. This area is more innervated than the enamel crown of your tooth, so when it is exposed, it is very sensitive to cold, touch, etc.
Or, you could be one of the lucky ones who just has sensitive teeth.
My suggestion to you would be to start using a sensitivity toothpaste (such as Sensodyne) and perhaps a fluoride rinse. Both of these can help alleviate the sensitivity you're feeling.
I would also recommend an exam by your dentist to rule out the possibility that you do have a cavity. If you have a cavity, you'll want to get it taken care of before it gets too deep and you need a root canal.
