NHS workers, do you feel appreciated?!

Question: That is why I left, I certainly didn't feel appreciated by my good for nothing boss. However, I certainly felt appreciated by the general members of the public, and my patients.

I know it is very easy to blame the government, but with an increasingly older population, better diagnosis undertaken of certainly diseases, pharmaceutical companies charging more and more for medicine, etc, the cost of running the NHS is increasing year on year, yet the tax payer moans if we see a tax increase to pay for all these services. Yes, we have a shed load of paperwork to do, but again, this is only down to accountability, which again comes from people wanting to sue the second something goes wrong. It used to sicken me that we had legal firms who specialise in medical neglect cases, sending us flyers to put in out waiting rooms!

I shouldn't think so, they treat people like dirt!

why on earth do nhs workers always go on about being appreciated, they are doing a job, like everyone else, that they are being paid to do. i don't see why they're special! this is going to make me unpopular but its this culture of nhs workers, especially at the higher end consultants, feeling that they are somehow doing us a favour by drawing the high wages they do, rather than going to the private sector (when the state funded their education) which leads to them being lazy f***ers. My mum recently had an appointment that she waited months for cancelled three times in quick succession, and it became increasingly clear that the consultant was just trying to extend his Xmas holiday. Its a disgrace. Work hard like everyone else, which is what you're being paid to do.

I have been working for NHS for over 14 years until now ,as techician and a feel appreciated and well respected.,

I work in the NHS nad feel respected in my current role. In another post in another care trust, I wan't respected by the management - nit picking and bullying was rife. Now, in my current role, I think things have changed; my manager respects and values me. She always says thank you, so does the more senior management. They post memos with thanks on them. I always say thank you to my staff too. Different from my last post where team building day was sitting in a lecture room being taught about respect - I think we all know what that is!!!!! I was sick one Christmas and I was told that I let the team down - a great lesson on respect, I left the job not long after that.

The Government don't respect ANY of the NHS staff; they put unrealistic targets which takes the 'caring' out of nursing. This bacfires onto the wards - there are too little staff to help people to reach their jug of water, resulting in dehydration. I think the NHS has a hard time from the Government; this needs to change. Bring back matron and the good old fashioned way of doing things.

No it`s a huge cash cow that now employs more managers than nursing staff as always more money and more pen pushers As for the agenda for change it stinks and is a con!

Why is it when they report all these bugs and then blame the domestic staff should they not be using better cleaning materials or maybe some good old fashioned bleach I can remember going into a hospital years ago and the first thing you noticed was a fresh clean smell not like nowadays.
