I had this done. They numbed my mouth and used a high pressure water pick to clean all of the tarter off of my teeth. They did one side of my mouth at a time. It was a little uncomfortable, but I find all dental procedures to be uncomfortable, and my gums were sore for a day or so, but all in all it wasn't too bad. It's not really anything to be afraid of.

I had a bit of this done. They work by quadrant. It was no big deal. What is more important for you is that you educate yourself regarding what you can do daily to prevent gum disease. I am dealing with it because I grind my teeth and because I haven't always beleived in flossing. I do now. I was spending about 1 hour daily working on my teeth and gums. The best way to take care of your teeth is to develop a program for yourself to care for your teeth and mouth on a daily basis. I like to go into my bedroom and lay in my bed and watch tv while flossing and brushing. There is some wonderful information on the internet available for better dental products then traditionally commercially available. I have spent hours and hours on the internet to educate myself and there are a few products that I have found and now use. One product I use is found at Oramd.com. It is mouth oil. This web site also has a lot of reading material and recipes for making your own tooth powders. A basic tooth powder is 3/4 baking soda and 1/4 sea salt. You can moisten to a runny paste and brush each tooth both front and back. Technique IS MULTO IMPORTANTE! A childs brush is reccomended or a better choice is a brush that has feathered bristles. These bristles are very fine on the end and easily slide between the tooth and gum. This allows the salt baking soda to get down between gum and tooth. This is when the baking soda can kill bacteria. If you are very early in the disease you are lucky because you can do alot to stop the progressive damage. My teeth have gotten a little lose and some of my gums have receded one right in front. A little more that I have learned: flouride doesn't do your gums any favors. translation-flouride is harmful to your gums. It. You can look into other therapies like oil pulling. My dentist told me that I would have to have gum surgery and she mentioned 7000.00. That was enough to scare me into action. My eating experiences are pain free for the first time in years. I now use a whole food toothpaste that I swallow (which is very expensive and I also found on the internet) and which I believe is responsible for removing the sensitivities. I also wear a night guard. I still grind but I find that by taking natural sleeping supplements, I don't grind so much and my teeth aren't so sore. It is only after I do the damage that the dentist tells me what the consequenses are. I have been grinding since I was in my twenties and refused a night guard because the grinding was mostly in the beginning, caused from dental work done. No one told me that I could loose my teeth because I grind them. No one told me that it could cause my teeth to cut grooves into them and for them to break off. I have broken several teeth over the years. Dentists do a very poor job of educating their patients until its time to make some money off of them. Get real dentists. Do your customers a true service and help them to have natural teeth and healthy gums without surgery and crowns and all the stuff that makes you bucket fulls of money. Sorry, I got carried away there for a minute. If you want some of the links I will send them to you.
