Questions about my Jaw Surgery!!?!

Question:

Questions about my Jaw Surgery!!?

The doctors say the healing will take up to four weeks, but when i had my molars out it took me more than four weeks to heal and for the swelling to go away, and this surgery is way worse than having a couple of teeth pullled! Also, they are taking bone from my Hip to put in my jaw, has anyone had this done?

Also i want to hear anyones stories about their jaw surgery, from the pain to the drugs to the way they look afterwards, is everybody happy with how they looked after compared to before?

Thanks!

My daughter had to have jaw surgery because her chin protruded out too far. It's not a fun thing to have. The worst part was the fear of choking while having her jaws wired. We had to keep a pair of scissors with her at all times so we could cut her loose if she did get choked. Not trying to scare you, just telling you like it is. She had swelling and some bruising. They didn't take any bone from her hip so I can't help you with that. She was wired up about 2 weeks and able to only drink slowly through a straw. Afterwards she had to be really careful not to chew on anything hard or sticky. Through it all, she never got choked and yes she is happy that she had the surgery done. It made a great improvement in her looks. So hang in there, and hopefully it will be behind you soon and you will be glad you had the surgery too.
