Upper right molar removed, should I have a real sore spot in m mouth ? read :?!

Question: Ok, my first tooth extraction so ?? Upper right molar, abscessed for 3 weeks ! finally pulled 3 days ago. I notice now when I touch the arch of gum right above where it was pulled out from it REALLY hurts, like if I am chewing even bread, then if anything touches that arched spot, it really hurts. I would expect this to be normal, but I have some other serious health issues so I have to keep a watch, and of course with no insurance !

It is normal that it would be sore after an extraction and more so if it was an infected tooth. After the extraction, your body has to heal the gums and bone where it was infected. As long as it is not throbbing and hurting more and more than before it was extracted, it is fine. It takes quite a while to heal and longer if there were no stitches. Rinse with hydrogen peroxide before bed. Swish, spit, do not rinse/eat/drink just go to bed. Doesn't taste good but will help keep bacterial count and irritants down.

Dentist tells me
- three days isn't enough to heal
- need xrays to see if infection in bone
-if you truly had an abscess you need antibiotics to kill off bacteria and prevent spread of abscess
- see a dentist or doctor for help before it gets worse - teaching hospitals usually have a dental division that have student dentists do free care
-if you pulled it out yourself then you may have left part of the root behind and that will need to be removed

yes that is perfectly normal! Just take some pain meds if its really bothering you, otherwise just wait it out, it will heal. Its the same if you gte a big cut or scrape and it hurts for a while, your body is adjusting to your tooth being gone and starting the healing process.
