Really bad toothache?!

Question: I went to have a "small" cavity filled on Tuesday, and my "small" cavity turned into my whole tooth decaying and almost needing a root canal. The dentist said it was fine and they got everything, but tonight it has started hurting again. Do you think I will need the root canal?

The nerve has probably just been irritated by the drilling and filling. It'll take a little while to settle down again. If the dentist says he got all the decay, then I'd trust what he says.

yes, most probably. it can hurt immediately after procedure for a day or two, this is normal, in that case a tooth is just settling, but if it was all right and started aching after several days of being fine - 100% garantee a root canal

no you should remove that decay tooth cos it will spread

You need to go back to the dentist, but in the meantime get some really strong painkillers. Ice also helps, wrap it in a towel and hold it onto the painful part of your face. It has a numbing effect, should help for a while or at least until the painkiller kicks in.

Good Luck
