Bad TMD question?!
Question: I have been told by my dentist that I have TMD, when I eat my jaw will pop with nearly every bite. I can't chew gum, and I don't.
It hurts very bad when I yawn or open my mouth wide.
I have even had a couple of very embarrassing moments when at school I yawned and my mouth got stuck wide open and I just could not push it closed. It hurt like HELL!! In the end I had to push my jaw closed with force while tears were running down my cheeks.
My dentist told me that if it progresses it could get to the point where I couldn't even eat and I would have to be TUBE FED!!!
I am scared, I am in pain, and I don't know what to do.
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to fix this, or make it better?
Would braces help?
Having my wisdom teeth out?
Taking extra calcium?
I am only 18 so I don't have any osteoporosis or anything like that.

I had a conversation with one of my teachers about that today... because she had said that she had it from when she was in the army... yeah, i think i have that too. I have braces and i do not think that has helped... my teacher said that like what she said was she just took it easy for a while and stuff... like i have learned not to yawn like rly wide and stuff and i do my best not to make it pop because yeah that does rly hurt. gosh, while i typed that it popped! ow... but yeah she said there is one alternative to that, but she said i should work on the first one because that stops it from progressing to the point where the second one is necessary. Well, the other thiing they do is like a surgury but they have to break your jaw and like rewire all ofn the stuff in there.
Yeah, well i am working on just "taking it easy" because she said that if you do it has a chance to not get any worse and possible better,... i wish you the best of luuck.
oh yeah, i am like 13... so this rly sucks to me
and it is a misallignment of your jaw so i do not see how having your wisdom teeth out or taking calcium will help, sorry
aha, yeah i had to come back... um i read this thing about it and if your bite is not normal like an overbite/underbite then getting that fixed can help... here is a site...
