Stupid expander!?!
Question: i got my expander in 2 days ago and it really didn't hurt.
i was fine until the night came.
it wasn't even the expander that was bothering me.
it was the two brackets on the side that kept cutting my cheek.
I've used two packs of wax in a little over a day!
the wax isn't helping for me.
I'm using oral gel but that only numbs it for a few minutes and then I'm right back to pain.
I've been eating soft foods like ice cream/ pudding/ mashed potatoes/etc. but it hurts so bad!
and I've been taking ibuprofen.
is there anything else i can do to help stop the pain and cuts in my mouth?
also, what hurt worse for you...

I had the same thing when i first got mine on. It was all fine, until about 2 weeks before i got it taken off, then it started hurthing. i went to the ortho and he said that i was "expanded" enough, so they put hard wax over the key hole and left it as a splint to hold my jaw.
about your problem, just take some advil and rest. try not to think about it, that might help too, since when you think about tha pain it can feel worse. in a few days you won't even notice it, your mouth is just confused because of all the metal that just got put in. remember to always keep turning it, because if you skip a day it could add a few days longer that you'll need it! I had mine on for a couple of months. for me, the expander hurt worse, braces your just really sore.
Hey!! I got my expander in one month ago. That is the same story with me. You need to take ADVIL because it is stronger. As for the cuts, you can't do anything for it. After about a week, you will not even know that there are brakets in ur mouth. I'll get mine off on March 10, and get braces on that day. I think the expander hurts the most.
ADVIL IS BEST FOR PAIN.
EXPANDER HURTS MORE THAN BRACES EVER WILL.
DENTAL WAX OVER THE WIRES WILL HELP WITH CUTS.
