Ok, don't worry too much. It will hurt a helluva lot the first few days having braces, but it'll get better (until your braces are tightened.)

Sadly you can't have any really sticky/hard foods, and you have to cut hard foods into bite sized pieces. Even though they say to not chew gum, I've done it... just have to be careful with it and brush carefully afterwards.

Flossing will be a ****** to do the 1st time you try, it took me 30 minutes! But you eventually get faster, and it takes me 5 minutes to floss now. I recommend that you use threaders to make it easier to floss, or superfloss. (I gave you links to those products under my sources)

Remember to brush twice a day. It's harder to efficiently brush with braces, as your toothbrush doesn't always get every single particle of food out of your mouth. Use a proxabrush to remove any visible chunks of food after brushing... and use an oral rinse. (Again, look under my sources list)

Braces can irritate your cheek because they poke you, but to relieve those problems use gauze, or orthodontic wax. If you can live with the pain, just don't do anything when you get an ulcer and let your lips toughen up. The ulcers eventually disappear.

Don't pick at your braces... I know it's tempting at times, but just avoid it at all costs. I once broke a wire because I picked at it, and it snapped! Whenever you break your braces, you lose progress and when it's fixed, it's basically like starting all over.

The more you take care of your braces, the less time you keep them on. You'll probably have the braces on for about 1-2 years.

The 1st few days with braces... eat soups, pudding, ice cream, any soft food. You'll get through it.

Don't be afraid to smile just because you have braces! People don't really care.

Goodluck!

Relax and clam down. It does not hurt when you get them on. After a while like a hour your mouth will start to hurt, Take a pain killer b4 you go.

Getting braces isn't bad they hurt at first, wax helps, but after a while you dont notice untill you get them tightend. I have had braces before and i didnt even need them. its not that bad.

it doesnt hurt when u first get them on. so dont freak out. the first week or so your teeth get really sore and hurt alot. after a couple weeks youll forget u even have braces on. just some advice, take some pain reliever (advil, asprin) before u get your braces on.

Calm down. I was nine when I found out I was going to get braces, it wasn't until now, I'm 14, that I finally got them and I was financially stable for them. I was excited at first, but once the day came I was SO nervous like you! They're not bad at all, Take some advil or ibprofuen before you go, I was told to do that but I forgot to, I've heard from various people it helps. They don't hurt at all having them put on, in fact the whole time I was getting them put on my dentist and I were laughing together! haha. It was great, but after they were on, and a couple hours later, they started to get sore. It's not like a CRYING pain, just some discomfort. If you do get any pain at all, then just put some wax on the part that hurts. It doesn't take much, but it works! But if the wax doesn't help, then just get some more advil or ibprofuen, and you'll be fine! It's all worth it in the end! =)

it doesnt hurt at all, they suck though just cuz its metal in ur mouth...
