I had a filling on a molar tooth about 6 weeks ago and have sensitivity?!

Question: It is sensitive to hot foods and when I bite down on something hard. Is this normal and will it go away? It was a really deep filling , very close to the nerves.

If it was very close to the nerve, the possibility of it being a tooth that may need a root canal/extraction may be high, if the dentist didn't already mention this to you. You may want to go back and ask him if this may be an option so that you don't have to continuously encounter pain when you eat warm foods or have cold drinks. I tell my patients this only because I think it may be a better option for extremely deep fillings.

6 weeks is a long time but it in natural though, them fillings take a long time before they go right.
