No it's not normal, I had a tooth out a month ago and the pain lasted about 7 days before I started to eat normal again, 16 days is to long, I suggest you go back to the dentist and have it looked over. If it's bad it will only get worse.

YUP THATS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL.
IT SOMETIMES CREATES PAIN IN EARS AND HEADACHE

You may be fighting an infection. The extraction site should not still be hurting. Call the dentist right away.

I would call the dentists office back. If you are a smoker, or have been a smoker in the past, this may be a case of dry socket. Dry sockets normally occur if you did not follow proper directions during the post-op after your teeth were extracted. In this case ,you may have been drinking out of straws too soon that cause bacteria getting into that socket where the tooth was pulled or you are or were a smoker. This isn't serious, but they do have to refill your antibiotics and it may get a little more painful if you put it off.
