Three sets of teeth?
My son who just turned seven is growing a tooth behind his bottom front tooth, the one in front of it isn't loose,, a few people have told me that some people will have three sets of teeth,,,,,, has anyone every heard of this or gone through this?? if so please help
Answers:
It is possible to have and "extra" set of teeth. Though this is not usually a full set.
Humans are diphyodont, meaning that they develop two sets of teeth. The first set (the "baby," "milk," "primary" or "deciduous" set) normally starts to appear at about six months of age, although some babies are born with one or more visible teeth, known as neonatal teeth.
Developmental abnormalities most commonly affect the number, size, shape, and structure of teeth.
Hyperdontia is the presence of a higher-than-normal number of teeth
If your child has a tooth erupting outside the norm you should see a dentist or orthodontist to keep that beautiful smile in ship shape. Remember that set of teeth lasts a lifetime!
