Root Canal....?!

Question:

Root Canal....?

Hi,

I just had the final lot of root canal treatment done on thursday, but my dentist only put in a filling on the top, not a crown. Is this normal?
What do I have to be wary of doing now - e.g. can I eat hard foods and brush normally on that tooth? What happens if I somehow break the root canal - is it possible to replace root canals?

Thanks!

Answers:

It's okay to have a normal filling, it's pretty strong. I have it too.
You can normally brush it, but don't be very harsh with it, it maybe sensitive for at least 6 weeks, which is normal, nothing wrong, it's the healing process.
Avoid eating hard foods with it, like apple and nuts, because it can cause breakage, that's what my dentist told me.
The tooth can handle quite a bit still, but is more fragile now.
The dentist only offered me to replace it with a crown after 2 years. and it worked out fine for me that way.

Hope it helps. Good luck.
