Is a Cosmetic Dentist a Nice Career ???

Answers:

Hello,

First, there is no such thing as a cosmetic dentist. This is not a specialty in dentistry, such as an orthodontist, oral surgeon, etc. It is merely a designation, given to the dentist, by themself, to make them look better. It would be like a auto repair place stating they work on brakes (in addition to everything else they do).

If you go to a person claiming to be a cosmetic dentist, they will do other work as well, such as exams, crowns, fillings, even a root canal..

However, with any other specialty, such as an oral surgeon, they are not permitted to do crowns, fillings etc. That is the difference between a specialist and a dentist.

So, all you need to do is go to dental school, and you can call yourself a cosmetic dentist...as long as you enjoy doing veneers, crowns, and things of that nature. You would be better off going to prosthodontic school after dental school, as this specialty deals with more cosmetic issues.

A salary? That can vary, depending on how ethical and/or money hungry you are...how much you want to work, and where you work. You can work really hard, 6 days a week and clear 750k a year...or you can work 4 days a week and easily walk home with 200k...again, there is a lot of variance to that.
