ya they should have showed up

I am pretty sure it would show up... the dentist should easily be able to see just by looking in the mouth if you have any sensitivity issues with gum recession, so you could probably rule that out. Otherwise X rays pretty much show everything.

If the Dentist took a Panoramic Xray of your teeth (xray machine went around yoiur entire head) sometimes cavities show up on the film.........but not all the time. Traditional Xrays (the little plastic squares they place in your mouth and tell yoiu to bite down) depict caries better becasue they show the areas between yoiur teeth. And becasue the Xray head for traditional Xray can be positioned differently......densities on the film may show up more effectively.

From what you say, it sounds like you had a panoramic x-ray. It is 12" x 4 1/2". If the doctor looks for them, He/She should be able to see cavities on it, if they are big enough.

Yes they would show. Even tiny holes can been seen on an x ray. Stop panicking, your teeth are fine.

Panoramic Xrays are only reliable for showing up large structures such as the roots of teeth, sinuses, nerve canals, etc.
Sometimes they will show up large cavities (not small), but not reliably. Often the resolution of the OPG is poor, and there will be a lot of overlapping of the teeth in areas where cavities start.
To reliably detect cavities in your back teeth, you need high resolution small dental Xrays which are placed in your mouth. These are commonly called bitewings.

yes they had to show up if there were any
