Is it true that brushing your teeth with baking soda can erode your teeth?!


Question: Usually when people talk about erosion they are talking about acid erosion. But I am 99% certain that baking soda is a base - which is the opposite of an acid.

I think you are talking about abrasive wearing of the enamel from the small particles of baking soda. I wouldn't worry too much because that's just what any polish does. A bit of enamel is always removed, but hopefully it's insignificant.

You could use a very soft brush to be on the safe side and for peace of mind.

Its supposed to whiten and clean them,,,Ive never heard of it eroding,,,

Baking soda combined with other properties can become a corrosive but not by itself.

It probably does have some corrosive properties but i cant imagine your teeth will be erroded.
