32 weeks pregnant, and I just set up a dentist appointment.?!

Question: Well I am ashamed to say this, but I forgot to tell the dental office that I was pregnant... I just became a new paitent and well I feel horrible that I forgot to tell them. Will they still see me? I was up all night and well still in pain from my tooth... Thanks.

Talk to your OB/GYN before your dental appointment. Find out what you can and can not have done...each one has their own 'rules' when it comes to this stuff... Dr. A may say it's ok to have antibiotics, while Dr. B may say it isn't.

If our pregnant patients don't know thier OB/GYN's 'rules', we call and find out prior to even looking at them... better safe than sorry, right?

Feel better, and congrats on the new baby!

:)

The dentist will see you but i would still tell them

go in and let them look at your tooth. Tell them when you get there.. So they dont do xrays.. No novacaine either!!!! Then go ask your doctor what they think.. Im 34 weeks and refuse to get any dental work done.. I have braces and go see my orthodontist every month.. but thats simple stuff. I also get cleanings regularly.. no xrays and no novacaine!

It's important that they know.

They SHOULD still see you, and should help you with the pain. They may not be comfortable doing a full exam with a full set of x-rays or cleaning...but they should be able to help you with the area of concern (the tooth ache).

They may be able to give you a prescription for an antibiotic. I've heard my dentist say that it will not transfer to the baby so it's ok. That will, at least, take care of the infection for now... and that should help with the pain. Then make sure you schedule another appointment for after the baby's born.

just wait your almost there
they wont see you mostlikey since they can really harm the baby
