Do I have a cavity?!

Question:

Do I have a cavity?

In one of my back teeth, whenever I drink something cold, it throbs deep down in my tooth. Could I have a cavity? I've had a cavity before and it didn't feel like this...I actually never even felt my other cavity. Please help me!

Answers:

Does eating sweets bother the tooth? Usually hot sensitivity is a bigger indicator for major problems with a tooth than cold sensitivity. You may be a grinder or clench your teeth. This is usually done at night. It will make a single tooth or several teeth very, very sensitive or "hot". You need to see a dentist and have an xray taken to be certain if you do have any decay. Try staying away from tartar control toothpaste or even whitening toothpastes. They can make teeth extra sensitive to colds.
