What does it mean if braces are removed due to lack of upkeep?!

Question: Either someone wasn't cleaning them right, or someone didn't pay the bill, or maybe didn't show up for appointments.

Answers: Either someone wasn't cleaning them right, or someone didn't pay the bill, or maybe didn't show up for appointments.

you dudnt take care of your mouth and they think its no use.

It means you probably don't brush your teeth, and they took the braces off because you won't have teeth much longer anyway.

you were slack about taking care of them. not something you should be pleased about.

you don't brush your teeth enough, or have them adjusted enough.

Probably just what it says.

If you have braces, you need to take extra care keeping them and your teeth clean.

Otherwise they will increase the chance of decay.

Most people have to go to the orthodontist every two weeks to have the braces tightened and checked. If you do not do this the braces will not straighten your teeth and there is no point in wearing them. Sometimes you have rubber bands that have to be changed every day, etc. Same thing.

You either missed appointments and the braces therefore were not able to be tightened as needed to cause straightening. Or you were not able to clean around them properly. If this is the case, you will develop staining and decay. Cleaning your teeth with braces is much harder then without them. And many adverse effects can occur by having them on your teeth without proper cleaning. So they would have to be removed if they are doing more harm then good.

Tell you what the worst scenario relating to your question is that braces that received little to no hygiene services (regular brushing and cleaning) most likely will have left behind damaged tooth surfaces, meaning that you have now run the risk of any number of areas of tooth decay showing up. You need an immediate tooth cleaning and evaluation followed by any needed treatments to save your teeth, regardless of how straight or crooked they are. Healthy crooked teeth are far better that no teeth at all.

They are removed due to lack of upkeep because maybe he/she didn't wear rubber bands, didn't brush teeth/floss regularly, or they were in such bad shape... it was no use keeping them on because with the amount of damage, he/she would need to wear them forever.

It means that the person wasn't taking care of their braces and their treatment is not working without the cooperation of the patient, therefore they are being removed. =]
