Does a crown using a base metal look different that one using a high noble metal!

Question: Is there a difference in appearance or is the metal in both cases covered by a tooth colored porcelain crown? Also, what are the differences in the metals other than costs? does one last longer than the other?

Crowns come in different 'metal' bases, but they all look the same if they're 'porcelain fused to xxxx metal', since the outer 'covering' is tooth-colored to match your existing teeth... this can be semi-precious, non-precious, high-noble metal, etc...

If there wasn't porcelain on the crown, it would either be gold or all metal, and the fee would be less expensive for an all-metal crown.

No, they are all the same.

nope the same just the price. they always say high noble is beter/longer lasting

Base metal will have a slightly higher tendency to tarnish over time, years. High noble is less reactive so it will not tarnish as much. Noble means having less tendency to have chemical reactions so may be a little less irritating to your mouth if at all.

Biggest difference is the price; gold and platinum are obviously more expensive than nickel and cobalt. Maybe $200 more per crown.
