Question:

Where in the mouth do wisdom teeth come in???

A few years ago i had the back tooth on the top left taken out and a tooth grew up in its place only it was a little bit further back than the original tooth that was taken out.maybe the length of half a tooth back.was this a wisdom tooth??do they come up under existing teeth or do they start to come up too far back in the jaw that causes the pain and problems??thank you

Answers:

The wisdom teeth are the last to come in, at the very last space that is left in the very back of your jaw. What is likely to have happened is that your wisdom tooth has moved somewhat into the empty space where your tooth was extracted. This is normal, in the case of the wisdom tooth: I do not think anything needs to be done, but do consult your Dentist next time you visit, and see what he/she will advise. The wisdom tooth will not come up under another tooth, and it will only move if there is an empty space next to it.
