Pain after??!

Question:

Pain after??

I came back from a dentist. I had a root canal. Then, a filling. I still have another filling for next week. I feel pain in my teeth or gum. Is it to be that way? Im not sure. I thought root canal was painless. Its not. Should i take a rapidol, paracitamol? any painkillers??

Answers:

I have had 4 root canals and it is always the same....

You have pain because during the root canal they are taking the tiny little files and moving them up and down thru your tooth. It makes the nerves under the tooth (not actually in the tooth) ache and it feels like the tooth hurts when it is really the tissue under the tooth.

In very rare cases you may have an unfinished root canal. If the tooth still hurts after 3 or 4 days you should call your dentist (or endodontist or who ever did the root canal). I had once instance of this and it turned out that the root of my tooth curved at the end and so the root was not compleatly evacuated.
