Ive heard that Listerine can wear down your enamel....is that true?!
Question: Kind of. In people who have weakened enamel already, the pH of Listerine can be harsh on weakened enamel if used a lot. The pH of Listerine is acidic. So, if you used it multiple times a day it could be very harsh. For most people, it will be fine, but if you have enamel that is already weak using this many times a day could be bad. Try to only use 1 time a day to avoid problems. We often recommend hydrogen peroxide rinses 1 time a day. It is cheap and works very well and safely, but it tastes awful. Swish, spit, do not rinse/eat/drink for at least 30 minutes, just go to bed. It works very well for gum problems and preventing progression/ just preventing gum disease as well as kills bacteria that cause cavities.
