What is the range in price of a dental "flipper"?!

Question:

What is the range in price of a dental "flipper"?

I scheduled an appointment with my dentist and I told him that I would have to wait to get bridge work or implants done due to finances. He gave me other options one of which is a dental flipper because these are my side teeth - replacing one on each side. It's really not noticable unless I smile really big, but I am self-conscious about it. He thought that would be an excellent solution temporarily and I agreed. The price that I was given was $550 (again this would be out of pocket). Is this a good price or should I search around? I thought a flipper would be a lot cheaper than your normal partial.

Answers:

Pretty normal price. Sometimes you can get cheaper replacement device at denture specialists (Dentures today/Dentures and dental services) but they do not always last as long/fit well as long sometimes (These are the complaints I hear from patients that have gone to these places) but then again it is cheaper. They advertise dentures for 200-300 dollars where dentist usually run 800 dollars. You might check there if this is really going to be a temporary thing. Otherwise, stick w/ your dentist.
