Ok so what happens If I were my retainer for this amount of time:?

So I went to the orthodonist today because one of my two front teeth is slightly turning outward, its a small deal and she said besides that my teeth are in very good shape

so i have to wear a retainer for 6 months 24/7 than i have to wear it when I sleep for a long time just to prevent other movement

My Question:

To be honest i kind of dont want to wear it in school....im gonna be a senior next year and its a little embarrasing to me (i cant afford invisalign)....would it be really bad if I didnt wear it for the 8 hours im in school during the week and occasionally not wear it other times?

Im cool with it taking longer to help me because of my taking it out...i just want to know if this will prevent it from helping

Your retainer needs to be worn at all times if your orthodontist said it needs to be kept in that amount of time. If you dont wear it your teeth could go back to the same way as before and thats not fun.
