I just got my wisdom teeth pulled, now what can I eat? I dont want dry socket!?!

Question: I'm starving and after reading a few things on here am also terrified of getting dry socket. this girl said she got it because food got into the hole, and was out of work for a week and a half because it was so painful?!

i was thinking after work to go to kfc to get some mashed potatoes... um what else can i eat? just soft foods like pasta and soups? when can i start eating normally again?

i just got all 4 of mine out and the only thing i was on a liquid diet but at potatoes and mac'n cheese like once or twice ...start slowly when you start eating normally again

make sure after a few days get gum a chew it even if you don't want to it will help strengthen your jaw up

stay away from crunchy food ,broccoli, rice,no pop,or popcorn

oh and ibuprofen works wonders (take 4 )

No really hot foods, like soup. But mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, jello, pudding, etc. are good for a couple of days. Do not smoke. Been there; done that. Smoking will give you dry socket quicker than you can snap your fingers.

Soft foods and you got to keep the area clean! You need to get a special tool to keep the food out of holes! You can eat normal when it heals. Ask your dentist when its ok to eat solids!

nothing hot no smoking no straws I said no STRAWS for soda or milkshakes Good Luck

Well, I would not necessarily recommend it, but when I had mine pulled it was just things like mashed potato and soft stuff.

But the thing that worked for me was vodka. It numbed the area a little at first, probably toughened it up too, and if you have enough then you really won't give a sh!t anyway, lol.

But as I said, probably NOT to be recommended.

Stay on softish stuff for a bit. I actually quite liked getting stuff stuck in the hole after a couple of days, then fishing it out with my tongue.

Yeah, wierd, I know, but there you go. ;o)

I thought you were just getting a cavity filled?
