Answers:

When you have a root canal the nerve of the tooth is removed and the tooth lacks a blood supply. Therefore the tooth becomes more brittle and likely to break (could be a small chip or you could break it off at the gumline), which you don't really want to have happen since you already took the time and money to do your root canal. The tooth could also end up with more decay and if you lose the tooth you could end up needing a bridge, partial or implant. If it is a 3 tooth bridge that costs 3 times the amount of 1 crown, so it is really in your best interest to get the crown. Good luck!
