Why why why did the dentist drill on my good tooth??!

Question:

Why why why did the dentist drill on my good tooth??

I just went in to the dentist about an hour ago to have a crown put on my molar and it didn't fit in right so the dentist proceeded to drill the GOOD TOOTH above it to make it fit!
Turns out I have to get a root canal now anyway because when they prepped my tooth for the crown they rinsed it causing shooting pain on the whole side of my mouth. So that was a treat having them break off the newly cemented crown from my mouth...

worst dental experience EVER....and I've had my wisdom teeth out and an oral extraction.

I just sort of thought that drilling on a good tooth seemed ridiculous. Why couldn't they have just set me up for a new crown (had I not needed the root canal)?

Answers:

Sometimes the dentist has to adjust on the opposing tooth to make the bite perfect. Making a new crown wouldn't really help matters. I'm sure they did nothing wrong to your "good tooth". Why did they have to take off the crown to do the root canal? Most dental offices will just drill right through it to get the root canal done and the put a filling back in.
