Some people think the harder the toothbrush the better, but hard toothbrushes causes abrasion of the enamel which protects your teeth from sensitivity. The softer the better. However, hard brushes are popular because of the abrasion, it makes you "feel" clean. Same goes with toothpaste. The only thing that differentiates a good toothpaste to a bad toothpaste is that a good toothpaste has fluoride and less "other ingredients". When you hear about whitening tooth paste, they rub against your teeth and removes stained enamel which actually protects your teeth. Best dental products to buy are always the simplest and cheapest.

Ask the dentist to teach how to use the brush and what tooth paste to use on it. (do ask how often you need the hygienist to clean the tartar and plaque accumulated on the teeth).
