How to protect my veneers?!

Question:

How to protect my veneers?

I am going to get veneers on my front four teeth in a couple of weeks. How do I protect them from popping off or breaking them?

Answers:

Remember to treat your veneers as "jewels, not tools". As others have mentioned, be careful what foods you have to "tear" with (tough pizza crust, bagels). No biting off price tags or biting your fingernails. I night guard would be a nice investment into protecting your teeth while you sleep. Many people grind their teeth at night and I can't begin to tell you the amount of patients that have chipped/broken off their veneers from it. The ones your dentist can custom make for you won't be cheap (anywhere from $300-$500) but it will save you a few trips in to get your veneers fixed. You could also buy a niggard from the store (in your toothpaste aisle) that is one size fits all. It's big and bulky but better then nothing. Good for you for educating yourself on how to protect your new smile!! Good luck!!
