Really, wax is the best thing for you right now. It will protect the irritation from getting worse and form a barrier so it can heal. The numbing gel works but depending on where your sore is, you may feel it less but when it is numb, you can put more pressure or bite it, therefore making it worse. I find that the canker covers(or oragel ones), which are patches that look like an aspirin that you put on the mouth sore, work the best when it is inside the cheek or lower lip.
Also, keep up with the saltwater rinses several times each day as they really do help.
I've had my braces for 19 months now and still need wax in some places. Feel better!
try to stop talking so that will keep your lower lip from rubbing against your braces and cutting them.
Warm salt water rinses should help. 1 tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water, couple times a day. If that doesn't help, call your ortho & see if there's anything that they can recommend.
