Root canal pain?!

Question: i was scheduled to have a root canal a couple weeks ago. They ave me a shot, but when they started working, i felt it and they decided to hold it off til saturday. so they placed a temporary, but it fell out. I went to the doctors yesterday to have another one put in, but when the dentist went to clean it, i screamed. I can not drink or eat anything without it hurting. So im going to another doctor tomorrow. I am really scared because of the pain i am feeling right now. I was wondering that if i get nitrous oxide(laughing gas) if it would hurt less. Would i feel the pain at all?? im considering getting "laughing gas" and shots because im scared out of my mind. I was crying when he touched it. So my question is..if they give me the gas...what will it do and how much more would it be??

I don't understand why the shot didn't numb it. Your dentist should not have started working until it was completely numb.

I've never had laughing gas, but my husband swears by it. He says you don't care. That's the expression he used. My daughter tried it once, and she didn't like the feeling. So you can try it and you might or might not like it.

But i have to say I would change dentists if i were you, because I had a few root canals and I LOVE my endodontist. he is so gentle you don't feel a thing, and my guess is that it is true of most endodontists, that they're more gentle than regular dentists. Try someone new. I don't like the one you used before.
