Wisdom teeth extraction aftercare questions!?!

Question: Hi all,
Just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth surgically removed yesterday morning (3/5/08) - Luckily I am not in a lot of pain and my jaws aren't noticeably swollen, either (YES!)

My question is: when can I start the Epsom salt water rinse that's supposed to be really good for you? My dentist told me NOT to rinse my mouth or spit for a while, so I'm wondering when it may be appropriate for me to start rinsing and gargeling...

Thanks in advance for your help!

I had all 4 of mine taken out last week. I was told to rinse gently with the salt water 24 hours later. Just move your head around to let the salt water move around your mouth. Just make sure when you're done, don't spit it out. Let it "drool" out. If you spit, it could cause the blood clots to come out and you could get dry socket, which I've heard is very painful.

As for the soup, its fine to eat some the day after. Soup, jello, pudding, ice cream, its all good to eat the day after.

Crackers.... Disolve easily and wont require much chewing and will help with the side effects of teh Vicodin.

48 hours is what I was told before rinsing,... I had all 4 pulled too.... Got dry socket in two... take care!

Saltine crackers always help me with being nauseated. You should probably wait close to a week before you start gargling with salt water or anything. You don't want the clots to come out and get dry socket.. YUCK!
