Tooth abcesses?!

Question:

Tooth abcesses?

i have this tooth (well 1/4 of an old milk tooth which just decided it didnt want to come out) and ever since i was a child it kept getting infected with abcesses because of the way the root was sitting or w/e. now the abcess is back, putting pressure on the 1/4 tooth left and the root of it is starting to push against my gum (gruesome i know). it's not sore, just a bit tender to touch but it's freaking me out that if the abcess gets any bigger, it'll burst through my gum. i am not registered with a dentist and there are no dentists taking on nhs patients in my area. any ideas on how to get rid of it or delay its growth?
thanks

it's only that one tooth thats bad because of the way the root was positioned i guess. but it isn't possible for me to see a dentist as there is a severe shortage in my area.

You must see a dentist. I don't know a bunch about dentistry but, I work in an intensive care unit and have seen MANY patients with unresolved dental issues that have caused serious life threatening illnesses. The infection can spread to your brain, heart, or even settle into your spinal column. These complications can require IV antibiotic therapy or even surgery. When I first started intensive care nursing this was one of the things that surprised me most- A toothache, left untreated can cause death. Not trying to scare anyone, and don't run to the ER at the first sign of a toothache but, do take care of your teeth and mouth.
Hope this helps
Maybe you could call your health dept. and ask for advice or a referral. If you develop a fever or other signs of generalized infection I would go to the ER.
