Am i being too picky or maybe complaining too much?!

Question: Ok I went to the dentist this morning,Its my first time going to this new doctor.
Well I had the nurse clean my teeth,It took her like 10 min. just to clean my teeth,
(I haven't had teeth clean since October)
She really didn't say much about my teeth,She didn't ask me what flavor teeth cleaning would I like,or anything.
I felt as if she didn't do a really good job,It felt like I didn't even have my teeth clean when I got done, she didn't let me look into a mirror to look at my teeth either,& when I was leaving she gave me a toothbrush, but no floss,When i asked her could I get some floss she said they didn't have any!
Now what kind of Dentist don't have any Floss,ya know!
The dentist I used to go to were so friendly & allways took there time, they would ask me what type of flavor would I like to be used in mouth.I mean I really could tell that I had been to a dentist & they took real good care of me!& they actually carried Floss!Am I being to selfish or picky? let me know what ya think?

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 20 years and this doesn't sound either thorough or professional to me on any level. First of all, any cleaning, no matter how great the hygiene takes at least 20 minutes. Most take 30. In most States in the US, the dentist must see the patient after to check the teeth, the gums, the tongue and entire mouth for any signs of oral cancer or decay, gum disease, any issues with any part of mouth or throat. I often check for tonsil stones if swollen or soft palate issues. So this is a rip off to me. I'm not so interested in the floss, but the thorough cleaning and EXAM that you pay for. I would call the dentist and speak to him directly. If he feels this is okay, then fins another dentist right away, the hygienist is NOT licensed to practice dentistry and you are paying for that exam. Please don't short change yourself. Prevention is essential and it must be done right. If you have any o ther questions, please ask. ~M

This dental practice is working for YOU--if you aren't satisfied, seek another practice, but first, speak with the dentist & /or practice manager, & explain to them why you are leaving & what you expect from them. Maybe they don't know any better,& will make an about -face if you bring this to their attention, but if not, at least you did the right thing by stating the problems. If they choose not to address it, that is up to them. Move on..

You need to call and complain, then switch to a different denist. That's crap.

I don't think you're being too picky. You weren't happy. I'd be more pissed about the cleaning. You should leave the dentist and your teeth should feel clean. You're doing this to hopefully prevent really bad problems from happening. 10 minutes doesn't seem like enough time. With me, they either do the scraper thing or the sonic cleaning, then they polish the teeth, then floss.

The flavor of teeth cleaning, I've never been offered that. And it is weird that they don't have any floss. What dentist office doesn't have floss? They floss people's teeth during the cleaning, right?

I'd call and complain. They might say your teeth didn't need that much work. Maybe you got perfect teeth. You were there in October. If they refuse to do anything, I wouldn't go back.

A 10 min. cleaning is crazy! Even if you're hygiene is excellent it should take at least 30 min. plus the time for x-rays and an exam. The floss thing and asking what flavor you'd like for your polish I would overlook. The floss is just a sample and should only last a couple of days anyway. The hygienist may have only had one flavor of prophy paste. In a practice that sees mostly adults they may only have mint flavored.
