Getting braces off?!

Question:

Getting braces off?

My ortho. told me I might get my braces off next month. I had a gap that was inbetween my two front teeth. Now inbetween my tooth front teeth there is a little gap right near my gums but the rest of the gap is closed. You can only see it if you look close in the mirror. But its been like this for a couple of months. Will that effect the chance of getting my braces off? If they do come off will the retainer close the gaps?

Answers:

Talk to your orthodontist and be sure to point out the small gap. It's very unlikely that a retainer will fix that because all a retainer does is "retain" what the braces have already done. And when you stop wearing your retainer, its very likely that your teeth will move a little bit and the space will become more obvious again. Make sure you're happy with the way your teeth look BEFORE you get them off because you won't want to get them put back on!
