Should I seek a new dentist all together? :O?!

Question: When I visited my dentist in my hometown, he informed me that I had ten to twelve cavities. Furthermore, I was going to get then all done but I couldn't because I had to go back to school.
I visited another dentist in the area of where my school was located, the dentist there told me that I had only three cavities and that I will be needing a deep cleaning because they did not actually clean my teeth in my hometown but polished them. In addition to that, he informed me that after I get this done, I could get my braces and that I should get them done in my hometown but I feel if they made the mistake on how many cavitities I have then there is no telling what would happen if I get braces.
Basically, should I get my braces in my hometown or the area where I go to school? And should I seek another dentist?

I would see one other dentist and see who was right - the one who wanted to do lots of work, or the one who wants to do little work. Then make your decision accordingly. You can tell the 3rd dentist that you just want a 2nd opinion on how many cavities you have...

Yeah, get a 3rd opinion. Try and find a dentist who is recommended by a friend/family member. Dentists are a lot like car mechanics, you need to find a good one you can really trust. Because they can say about anything and most of us believe them.

10-12 cavities seems like a lot. And it might make sense that you have those because your cleanings at the dentist aren't that good.

If you do get braces, you're going to see an orthodontist. It won't be the same dentist in your hometown, right?

And, how long have you been going to your dentist in your hometown? Do you trust him?

The general dentist and the orthodontist are two different dentists, so if you do have your braces done in your hometown, it won't be done by the guy who said you have alot of cavities.
