Do I need a root canal?!
Question:
Do I need a root canal?
There is a hole in the very back of my last tooth on my left side of the mouth and it hurts really bad. I can't put pressure, chew on that side, etc. or else I'd be in pain. I was playing around with it with a toothpick and it can go inside the hole and I felt it touch the gum inside. Do I need to have a root canal to fix this?
Answers:
Yes, I think you do need a root canal.
If there is a big hole in your tooth, it means there is a big cavity.
If your tooth hurts badly, especially when you apply pressure on it, it means that the cavity is in the nerve.
When the nerve is infected, the tooth needs endodontic treatment, meaning a root canal (http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...
But don't worry, with today's techniques, root canal therapy is done comfortably for the patient.
If the cavity destroyed much of the tooth and part of the root, then the dentist might suggest to extract the tooth (http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...
