Sand in the Mouth????!

Question:

Sand in the Mouth????

OK...has anyone ever experiences a moment when (not eating or anything...) but, perhaps if just for no reason (or even when swallowing,) you bite down (normally, no clinching, etc) and you have the feeling like you just bit down on a *reeeaaalllyyy* tiny grain of sand. And, in one bite its gone. I get that sometimes, and i KNOW i haven't been anywhere near sand or anything like it. Could it just be some sort of airborne particle or are my teeth rotting or something?! this has happened as long as i can remember, nothing new. it's rare, but something i always wondered about. I hope no one thinks i'm crazy...

Answers:

Yep I have had this. It could be either option you mention, something small that could have gotten in your mouth, something that may have been wedged in a tooth and has come out, or a tiny piece of tooth breaking from decay or damage etc. Generally it isn't any major concern to worry about, if you do have concerns it might be a tooth problem, then seeing a dentist and having them check for cavities is the best way to go.
