Will I Survive A Painful Surgery On My Teeth?!

Question: I'm 13 and I cut my teeth in really late when I was a baby. I just lost my last baby tooth and all of my other teeth are good except this one. It's adult bottom tooth that is coming in far behind and the only way to pull it forward (before I get braces which will be soon after this) is a surgery or something else (I forgot what it was but my dentist already made up his mind to do surgery). He obviously didn't care about telling me how painful it will be and I will have to be put out by medicine and by putting that bubblegum scented thing over my nose (actually they have bubblegum, strawberry, grape, or apricot but I always choose bubblegum lol!) while they use a machine to pull forward that one tooth. He said it will be sore for two weeks!!! I've never had surgery, I've never broken a bone - I've never been to the hospital except for the day I was born and when I once visited someone! I am so scared right now cuz what if I don't wake up? I'm not use to painful stuff. Thanx tons

Its not bad at all. When ever I was knocked out when I got my wisdom teeth pulled this is what happened to me.
They put the mask on my nose. The nurse left the room. I sat there, fine until I started to get really sleepy. You know when you get barely any sleep the night before and the next day your tired its the same. Anyway I tried to move around, that wakes me up for a bit but it was so hard. I wondered why it took so much energy for me to move. The dentist came in with 2 nurses. He tried to have a conservation with me to make sure I was calm but I was so tired, I don't remember what he even said. He brought a IV that had more sleepy drugs in it. He took my left hand very gently. I looked down at him, it was so hard to turn my head, he sprayed a cold thing on my hand. Then he put the IV in. I didn't even feel the needle go in. By this time, it was hard to keep my eyes open, strangley I was happy. The OS (oral surgen) has a high voice for a guy. I said something like "your gay" what ever comes into your head comes out loud, he gave me a funny look. I guess he's heard things like that before. He put his mask on and leaned the chair back. I remember seeing the light in my eyes, and hearing a voice saying "and open" and I was out.
Not bad at all once I woke up, I felt like I'd been sleeping for days, but still wozy. My mom helped me to the car and helped me to the couch, I slept for a while, when I woke up there was a bowl of Benand Jerries.
Nothing bad at all, you'll be on good drugs and you really won't remember anything.

dude, no worries!!!! ive been in the hospital SEVERAL times, Broken neck, dislocatd knee cap, practially got my arm pulled out of its socket XD the gas wont entirely kill you, you're just unconicous, its more like deep sleeping. You'll wake up its guaranteeed....plous think abuot people who are loosing their arms or legs and they wake up in the middle of the procedure....that would SUK!! trust me ur luky

Hey, your just having the "I've never done this before jitters". No, you will not fail to wake up after the surgical procedure is completed...you will wake and be just fine, a little woozy, but fine. Yes, there will be some discomfort for a few days but nothing really bad at all. Besides, the Dentist will give your parents a pain medication prescription that will take care of the pain issue. You will be instructed about using a cold pack to keep swelling down and you will be instructed to eat a "Soft" or "Liquid" diet for three to five day's. I would also expect the DDS to give you an antibiotic to take for ten days. All in all, you should do just fine.

You will be just fine and, I hope you are ok with this, you won't be in that room by yourself at all. Honey God is right there with you and helping the doctor(s) do their job.

Just remember Psalm, I think it is 32, The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want. Also prior to getting bubble gum scent, think of a place you want to be, maybe Disney World and then you may dream about that.

If it helps any, aftermy sophomore year of college while I was home on summer break I had all 4 wise dome teeth out at once, at the time only my mouth was nummed. I didn't get put to sleep.

I was so afraid of going though. I did just fine and you will too.

Best of Luck and God Bless.
