I'm curious if it is ALL your teeth, one tooth or one area? Are they top teeth or bottom? Do you have any obvious cavities? Do you have a pimple on your gums anywhere? Do you have a bad taste in your mouth? Does HOT temperatures hurt? Does it wake you up at night? Typically, sensitivity to percussion (tapping) indicates nerve involvement. If it is all your top teeth-do you have sinus problems? You can try a sinus pill and see if that helps. The roots of the top teeth lay next to your sinuses (some even perferate (enter) the sinus) therefore sinus pressure puts pressure on the roots causing them to be "touchy". Does Advil or Aleve help? My guess is it's either a tooth gone bad (root canal needed) or sinus pressure. You can experiment with sinus/anit-inflammatories for relief or just see a dentist for a check up. An x-ray will show if it's trying to abcess or not. Good luck!

If it's all your teeth, then you may have removed the enamel by brushing either to much or to vigorously causing the dentin to be exposed. The dentist can prescribe for you a toothpaste for sensitive teeth called SootheRx.
