HELP IM GETTING BRACES!!!! please help me !?!
Question: hi. i am getting braces soon and i know nothing about them! if you could answer these questions for me i would appreciate it so much!

how much does it hurt on a scale from 1-20
is the pain imbearable?
how many colours is there to choose from?
how do they put the braces on?
i have spacers in my teeth and they said they are going to put a ________ arch in my teeth i cant remeber what it was called! it was a bar that goes accross the roof of my mouth and fits between my teeth- anyone know what im talking about?????? ( its trans something)
will it make my lip poofy? or look normal?
your opinion- do you find people with braces attractive or unattractive? or just nerdly like ):

ok braces arent as bad as the are made out to be sometimes.
when they are put on, the pain is pretty high (probably between 15-18) and for the first few days you can only eat foods that are soft such as applesauce. but after a few days, they dont hurt at all (except when you get them tightened). Actually getting them put on doesnt hurt, its just annoying and takes a while.
My orthodontist has 30 different colors and you can get more than one color at a time.
To put the braces on, they put a thing in to hold your mouth open and basically dry it out. then, they put a little glue on each tooth and stick the bracket on. After the glue dries and the brackets are stuck there, they will put the wire through. After the wire is through, they put on the colored bands to hold the wire in place. then your done =)
The only thing i can think of that sort of resembles what your talking about is a palate expander which goes across the roof of your mouth and has a little 'key hole' in it. When i first got braces, i got one of those and had spacers so thats what i'm thinking you might have but i'm not sure. Those kind of hurt.
Braces and everything dont make your mouth look any different. well, except when you open your mouth and people can obviously see that you have braces.
I dont know what people think of braces but i've never gotten made fun of for having them or anything because so many people have them or have had them at one point in their life. good luck with your braces!! =)
its called an expander and they will only hurt on the first two days but the pains only a three i am very popular and i where braces and when you get them your teeth will be beutiful :)
I haven't gotten braces yet but I got an expander recently, and those questions are on my mind too Lol!
I know it won't make your lips look poofy thought because almost all my friends have them and they look fine.
About the spacers thing, I think it's not trans something but I'm not an expert. I think it's an expander, because if it goes across the top of your mouth and its a bar then it's like an expander.
I think people with braces look fine. Don't worry about it. :)
OMG ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT MY SISTER GOT BRACES WHEN SHE WAS 7 YEARS OLD AND SHE DIDNT COMPLAIN THAT MUCH WHEN SHE CAME HOME;;;JUST SUCK IT UP AND STOP BEING A BABY. OH YA AND SHE ALSO HAS A NONREMOVABLE RETAINER TOO.
PPL WITH BRACES DONT LOOK ATTRACTIVE, BUT PPL WITH CROOKED AND DISGUSTING TEETH LOOK WORSE; GET THE IDEA???
FROM 1-10 IT HURTS LIKE (MY SIS SAID THEY HURT 9 WHEN YOU FIRST GET THEM; BUT THE PAIN GOES AWAY AND YOU DONT FEEL THEM ANYMORE.
AND ALSO I HAD TO GET MY WISDOM TEETH REMOVED; MEANING THEY HAD TO CUT OPEN MY JAW; YANK OUT THE BIGGEST TEETH IN YOUR MOUTH; STICH YOUR JAW BACK TOGETHER (SAYING THAT THE "STICHES WILL DISSOLVE" AND HAVING PAIN FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS NONSTOP. I GOT OVER IT AND IM STILL LIVING

First i would tell u to calm down. I would tell u 40 percent of the pain comes from stress.
i had braces for 4 years now. it only hurts the first week maybe or less. Its not really that big of a difference . I rated it 10 out of 20. Sure it is uncompfortable. but after a while you will forget its there trust me. it is actually fun u get to choose from 25-30 different colors. It's cool how u can get orange and black colors for halloween and red and green for christmas. After the next to nothing pain it looks cool. PLus u will be amazed in how gorgeous your teeth look when they come off. Be grateful your getting braces cuz retainers hurt like hell.
Sry for cursing. Cuz retainers attach to the area under your tongue. Thats unbearable pain not braces. So good luck.

the arch is--think of it this way if they were to only going to put brackets on with no anchor the brackets could fall off. plus when they adjust you braces it will help hold the wire in place.
pain--- there is discomfort, i wold take some advil before you go. it just feels like pressure on you teeth. afterwords it is the cutting of your gums that hurts. they will give you wax that you put over that bracket so it will not rub your gums raw. scale of 1-20. 1 being the least. i said mine was like a 4
youe lip- you will feel like it is poofy but no it will not look poofy.
people with braces will be happier in the long run when an adult. it has nothing to do with what people look like. everyone goes through their own strange phase. it will be ok. i got mine on when i moved to a different state, with family, and started 8th grade. no one had braces... but then when i got mine off before high school everyone else did. good luck
- the first week it will hurt. But just take tylenol or advil and you'll be fine. Eat lots of mushy foods the first few days, or until you can stand to eat harder foods. (pudding, mashed potatos, ice cream, etc...)
- it will hut like for a day when you get them tightened but you should be able to stand the pain, if not take pain medicine.
- they have every color. I dont recomend getting the clear ones though, cuz i tried them and they look bad. But like when it was christmas i would get red or green, and sometimes i used two colors at a time (they can let you pick 2 colors at a time)
- It takes about an hour to put them one, maybe longer. Its not too bad.
- i dont remamber the name of the bar either.
- Your lip will look normal with them. but you might need some chap-stick
- i think people with braces are normal. You should be lucky your getting them. your teeth are gonna look some much better when you get them off. Some people cant afford braces.
- The first week i had them my mom could tell that my voice had a slur to it because i had them. But after a week my taking was back to normal. (like i kinda slured. not too bad though)

You can pretty much choose from any color you want. They just bond them on to your teeth

they use dental adhesive to glue the braces on your teeth...
and an answer to the rest of your questions... you will be fine... geez not all people can afford braces... so you should be greetful & deal with the problems/questions as they come along...
The pain, honestly is really not bad at all. It doesn't hurt for a few hours after you get your braces on, but expect your teeth to be very sensitive. It will be sore but it really should be easily bearable. By the third day, the soreness from my braces really eased up, it was still there but not as noticeable as the first couple days. Also, you're orthodontist will give you wax. Make sure you use it, there will more then likely be parts of your braces that will irritate your mouth.
The process of getting them on is painless. Im not sure exactly how its done but i swear its not painful at all.
Your lips will feel really bulgy and like they're sticking out, but they will look the same, or closely the same as your lips without braces.
Im not sure about the colors, or about the arch thing your talking about.
Make sure you keep your braces clean by flossing every night and brushing 2-3 times a day. You're orthodontist will give you floss threaders that are helpful, but he should go over how you floss and brush properly. If you dont, you could end up with stains from where plaque was sitting on your braces.
Don't worry,braces are not as bad as people make them up to be. In fact, they're not bad at all.They take some getting use to but you will! Hang in there! Everything will be fine! (keep in mind the results yours get from your braces :D)

Braces aren't that bad when I first started getting braces everyone said that it would really hurt but it turns out that it isn't that bad.When you get your wires tighten it only hurts for the first 2 days then it stops and you can eat normally
