Tmj?!?!?!?!?

is there any danger of my tmj geting worse after wisdom teeth removal or can it make it better

Answers:

You will probably be sore in your jaw muscles from being open so long. This may also cause you problems with just opening your mouth for a few days. Don't try to force it. Take antiinflammatory medicines for several days. Hot, moist towels will also help. Think of your jaw joint just like any other joint (knee, elbow, wrist). You would baby those right? Don't chew gum or try to eat a big sandwich or steak right away. Most TMJ disorders are related to how the teeth come together. Wisdom teeth can I believe move the teeth if left in, therefore changing how the teeth come together. Consider whether or not you may clench or grind your teeth. This is either during the day, but especially at night. Stress can really make you clench and that makes your jaw muscles tired. You may need an appliance to help keep your teeth from being jammed together at night. This is called a night guard or bite splint. Get your wisdom teeth removed. They can be very problematic later in life, and it is much easier to heal when you are younger.
