Pain in tooth years after root canal?!

Question: I broke a tooth about three years ago and the dentist did a root canal so he could put in a post to rebuild the tooth. I've felt pain in it every once in a while, nothing major. Just in the last 12 to 18 hours I've gotten some pain in the tooth, especially when I bite on it. What can cause such pain after a root canal?

Unfortunately not all root canals work forever, it is possible to still get an abscess above the tooth. In fact my husband just finished a round of antibiotics for just that. Do go to your dentist as soon as possible as his went from a little twinge to full out in tears pain in about 3 days. Don't put yourself through that. Good luck!!!!!

Not all root canals work...it's best to go back to the dentist and get it straightened out...beat suffering.

One advice to take away the pain is to use salt.
Put a tespoon on the tooth that herts, but make sure you get the salt mosted so it could absurve.
keep for five min. then if it herts still do agian five min.

make sure to take 5 min brakes between each time.
just something that should get rid of the pain.
