Dry Sockets!! Help!?!

Question: I had my wisdom teeth taken out on the 3rd and developed a dry socket in one of them. I have had three kids and this pain is beyond that. I went to the dentist and he gave me some medicine to squirt in the socket that gives temporary relief but I was just wondering how long the extreme pain will last..I can handle soreness and uncomfortability but if I don't squirt that stuff in there every couple of hours I feel like I am gonna die..and on top of that I can't eat anything because it gets stuck down in there and starts to REALLY hurt...anybody with any experience or expertise please let me know!!!!

Usually, they will give you antibiotics and it will clear within a couple of days and feel better. Sometimes they pack the hole with meds. I don't know what he gave you, but oil of cloves if known to help and heal this. You can get some at a health food store and put some in the socket. However, it will probably burn when you put it in. Do it several times a day. Ask the recommended dose from your health food pro. If it has been more than 4 days and not getting better you should see a dentist again. Possibly a different one if they do not listen. You might also ask your health food store if they have some type of natural anti inflammatory. I have had many people tell me Sciatica found at the healthfood store does wonders. I think this would work better than the health food tooth meds. The Sciatica is stronger.

It will last for about 4 days from the intial pain. Try to rinse carefully with Salt water. Do not spit out, just let it roll out of your mouth. Don't drink anything through a straw as this may cause more suction in the sockets and more pain. Stay away from carbonated soda.

I know it really sucks...if you go back sometime soon tell them to use medicated dressing. it tastes horrible for like the first 45 minutes and it hurts when they put it in but after that it is amazing!!! I had dry sockets and what they did was put the dressing in the extraction area and it soothes the soreness almost immediatly AND it keeps food from getting stuck down in the hole so its a positive on both ends.
