Excess glue from getting braces on?!

Question:

Excess glue from getting braces on?

I just got my braces on yesterday, and theres a lot of excess cement or whatever on my back molars from my dentist putting on the bands. Is this bad? Will the excess fall off on its own?

Answers:

It probably wont go away. Orthodontic cement is very strong. Go to your regular dentist and get them to disc off the excess at your next check up (they wont harm your teeth doing this, scratching the cement with a dental probe will turn it grey, helping define between tooth and cement). It wont be harmful, but it will eventually discolour. Wiser to get it removed.
